How to measure
- Measure brick to brick across the top, middle and bottom of the opening.
- Measure the height from the finished floor or step to the underside of the lintel, on the left, centre and right.
- Take the smallest of each and deduct 10mm from the width and the height for fitting.
- Enter the overall size including any side panels and top light. A cill goes below, so leave it out.

About our made-to-measure stable doors
Our stable doors are made-to-measure composite doors with a split leaf, so the top and bottom halves open independently and both halves lock. Open the top to let the air in while the bottom keeps children and pets inside.
They suit kitchens, utility rooms and cottage-style homes. Design yours above, see it drawn to scale, and get the price instantly. Every door is made in our Essex factory and delivered across the UK.
Composite stable door designs and colours
Choose a stable door on its own, with one or two glazed side panels, or with a top light across the full width. The designer works out the panel widths and shows them under the size fields.
- Four door designs: 4 Panel, Cottage, Half glazed and Farmhouse.
- 13 door colours: White, Anthracite Grey, Black, Red, Blue, Green, Chartwell Green, Duck Egg Blue, Agate Grey, Cream, Plum, Oak and Rosewood.
- Frame colour: white, or foiled to match the door on the outside.
- Inside colour: white, or your outside colour on both faces.
- Door glass: obscure, clear, satin or decorative leaded.
- Handle finish: chrome, satin, gold, black, graphite or white.
You choose the hinge side and whether the door opens inwards or outwards.
Security, thresholds and extras
Both halves of the door lock. You can upgrade the cylinder to an Ultion anti-snap lock, rated TS007 3 star and Sold Secure Diamond. Our door locks and security guide covers the options.
Optional extras include a door knocker, a spyhole, stick-on house numbers and a security chain, all in your handle finish.
Thresholds come in three types: a standard weather-sealed step, a low aluminium threshold about 20mm high, or a Part M accessible threshold for wheelchair and pushchair access. See our door thresholds guide to compare them. You can also add a cill and a fitting kit.
Measuring, delivery and guarantee
Measure brick to brick across the top, middle and bottom of the opening, and the height from the finished floor or step to the underside of the lintel. Take the smallest of each and deduct 10mm for fitting. Our door measuring guide explains each step.
